This is a wallhanging showing the Warring Family Quilt ( a commission received and executed in collaboration
with Gloria Johnson). I embroidered masks on this one, mounted it on red cotton and began the wonderful process of accumulation. The beaded strands represent Christian principles, the Apostles, the Disciples. They also contain brass tokens that represent various periods in African American history. The names written on the quilt squares represent the 8 children of Ruben and Edith Warring who left descendants. The names written at the bottom of the quilt represent their 8 children who left no descendants. The original quilt was made in celebration of the family reunion that took place in Atlanta.
