SPECIAL NOTICE: Ifama has "an internet radio show that is a call-in program." She is "inviting BCG members [...] to come on the show to talk about their crafts and promote their businesses. It is an opportunity to direct people to your site and sell your creations. [... She can] can have up to five people call in at the same time to talk about their challenges and so forth so you are all welcome to hit [her] up and let [her] know what you think of the idea. [Long distance telephone charges are not covered but] there is also a chat area that you can participate in as well. [... She] would like to do this particular show at least once a month on a Sunday afternoon." Ifama is listed in the Members section.

Black Crafters Guild is a free, nonprofit resource. Within an Afrocentric, anti-classist, handcrafts-oriented framework, Black Crafters Guild is dedicated to supporting the African Diasporan tradition of self-employment and enjoyment through manually and artistically creating and altering items. By “handcrafting”, “by hand”, “handcrafts” and "manual", we refer to crafting done by hand, mouth, foot, or other part of one's body.

Long before our ancestors left Africa, our people were engaged in handcrafting for the home and elsewhere.

Booths

Afrofest is coming up and I'd hoped enough members would sign up so that we could share the booth space for $62.50 each. Unfortunately that's not happening (8 members are needed and would get 1/2 a table each) and I suspect that this is due to cost. One of the things BCG will be doing after obtaining charitable status under a local arts umbrella organisation is raising funds in order to pay for members' selling space at events. It would be great if we could raise enough money to pay for our own… Continue
