On June 12th, Lori "participated in an invitation only baking contest sponsored by Murray's Sugar Free Cookies. I'm still trying to figure out why I was chosen to participate but God is good.... So good that I won. It was cool to have a great tasting original recipe and the $2500 prize certainly didn't hurt. We can get some stuff taken care of at the shop...and maybe a little celebration dinner or something."

Be it Mother, Father, Crafter, Nurse, Teacher etc. We could all make a hat using the materials of our particular trade." View our hats here!

Lori won 3rd place in Taste of Chicago, the Food Network Challenge! It was a two-day event (July 1st and 2nd, 2006) at Buckingham Fountain.
"Lori also did a great job. She started with sculpting a car to rest up against the bottom 2 tiers. She had transfer sheet Street signs to wrap around the bottom tier, for many of the great Chicago Streets! Forgot to check if she had 95th Street where her shop is! She accented her cake with fire works made from I believe long rice noodles? Which she made there. She also had a building skyline on the top TALL tier of her cake. On the other tiers there were insignias for the Sport teams, there was a CTA bus, hard candy Ferris wheel, and more ... just can't remember everything ..." ~ Mary [?]
