African Diasporans creating, decorating, and artistically altering by hand

August 26, 2012 by Valerie Deas
I am always in thought about what direction I want my art to go. Having taught art for thirteen years I exposed my students as well as myself  to different  art forms such as ;drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage making etc.  So when  people ask me what is my  area?  I have none and don't want one either!. I feel the way I work is open, open to me being spontaneous.  I do not want to box my inspiration or creativity.  I want it to flow naturally. Pablo Picasso once said. that all children are artist until they grow up.  I never, ever want to grow up! I feel that I am at my best when I work freely. Sometimes I might mix quilting with painting, painting with sculpture.  Only my inspration knows the answer.
